Caramelized Makhana with Jaggery and Spices

Ingredients

  • 2 cup makhana
  • 2 tbs peanuts
  • 1/2 tsp ghee
  • 2 tbs chopped jaggery
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder

Preparation

  1. Heat up the pan and add 2 cups of makhana.

  2. Add 2 tablespoons of peanuts and roast well on medium flame for 7-10 minutes.

  3. Transfer the mixture to a bowl.

  4. Add 1/2 teaspoon of ghee to the same pan.

  5. Add 2 tablespoons of chopped jaggery.

  6. Add salt as per taste.

  7. Add 1 teaspoon of white sesame seeds.

  8. Add 1 teaspoon of Kashmiri red chilli powder for color and spicy taste.

  9. Add the roasted makhana and peanuts back into the pan.

  10. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes on slow flame, then turn off the stove and let it rest for a while.

  11. Once it cools down, separate the makhana from each other if needed.
