Crispy Salt & Pepper Tofu

Ingredients

  • 450gms extra firm tofu
  • 4 Tablespoons cornflour
  • Large bunch spring onions
  • 4-8 cloves of garlic (or more 😜)
  • *secret ingredient
  • 2 tablespoons flavorless oil (e.g., light olive oil)
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese five spice
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Red chili to taste 🌢

Preparation

  1. Chop the tofu into small cubes and place them in a large bowl.

  2. Sprinkle cornflour over the tofu and toss to fully coat it for crispiness. Add more cornflour if needed.

  3. Pan fry the tofu in a little oil or air fry it for super crispiness. Set aside on kitchen paper to drain.

  4. Slice the spring onions and in the same pan, fry them for a minute.

  5. Finely chop or mince the garlic and add it to the pan along with the Chinese five spice, salt, pepper, and chopped chili if using. Mix well.

  6. When the onions are soft, add the crispy tofu, salt, and pepper to taste. Mix everything together.

  7. Garnish with more spring onions and chili slices.

  8. Serve the dish right away and enjoy!
