Marinated Banana Blossoms

Ingredients

  • 1/4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup ground seaweed
  • 1 tbsp old bay seasoning
  • 2 cans banana blossoms, drained & washed
  • sea salt and pepper to taste
  • for the batter:
  • 3/4 cup unbleached flour
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp old bay seasoning
  • 7 tbsp soy milk
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp water

Preparation

  1. Using a casserole dish, spread your banana blossoms as your bottom later

  2. Whisk together your marinade and slowly whisk until your batter is smooth

  3. Coat your banana blossoms with the marinade until completely covered and leave for one hour minimum

  4. Whilst waiting, mix together your batter mixture until smooth and let this rest for 15 minutes

  5. Finally, place 1/4 cup of flour in a shallow bowl and batch fry your “fish” for 2-3 minutes

  6. Drain on a wired rack, and serve these goodies up! ???
