Sticky Sesame Cauliflower Wings
Ingredients
Cauliflower wings
- 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
- 1 cup brown rice flour or regular all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
Sesame sticky sauce
- 1 teaspoon avocado oil
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 tablespoons organic brown sugar or coconut sugar
- 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons Tamari or soy sauce
- 1/4 cup organic ketchup
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Additional items
- sliced green onions for garnish
- white or brown rice to serve
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the batter by mixing the dry ingredients together, then adding almond milk and stirring with a whisk or fork until well combined and thick but pourable.
Once the oven is preheated, coat each cauliflower floret in the batter, shake off excess, and place on the baking sheet with about 1 inch of space between pieces, then bake for 30 minutes.
In a bowl, combine all sauce ingredients except garlic and avocado oil and mix to combine.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan over medium heat, add the minced garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.
Add the sauce mixture to the pan, bring to a simmer, and cook for 3-4 minutes or until just thickened.
Add the baked cauliflower wings to the pan and toss to coat with the sauce.
Sprinkle with additional sesame seeds and green onions, then serve with rice.
Tips
The sauce is versatile and can be used with other vegetables or noodles for a stir fry.
