Creamy Brazilian Cake with Dulce De Leche Topping
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 300 grams heavy cream
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 cup milk
Topping
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons dulce de leche
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
Preparation
Beat eggs, sugar, oil, vanilla, and heavy cream until creamy
Gently fold in the flour and cornstarch with a spatula or whisk
Gradually add the milk
Mix in the baking powder
Pour the batter into a greased and floured pan
Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 35 minutes
Let the cake cool before unmolding
Topping
Combine sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, dulce de leche, and butter or margarine in a saucepan
Stir constantly over low heat until the mixture thickens and becomes shiny
Pour the hot topping over the cooled cake
Tips
For a less sweet cake, reduce the sugar to 1/2 cup
This cake is very soft and slightly moist, perfect for afternoon coffee
