Quick Date Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup fine semolina
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground anise
- 1/2 teaspoon mahlab
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 medium egg
- 3/4 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
Preparation
Place the wire rack in the middle of the oven. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Prepare a 13x9 inch pan and line it with parchment paper.
In the mixer bowl, put semolina, flour, baking powder, anise, and mahlab. Attach the whisk and run on low speed for a few seconds to mix.
Add dates, milk, sugar, egg, and butter. Run on medium speed to form a homogeneous mixture.
Spread the mixture in the pan and level the surface. Sprinkle sesame seeds.
Place the pan in the oven for 20 minutes until the cake is done.
Remove the cake from the oven. Place it on a wire rack to cool completely.
Remove the cake from the pan. Using a sharp knife, cut the cake as desired and serve.
