Cake with Orange Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Orange sauce

  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon starch

Garnish

  • powdered sugar

Preparation

  1. Set the middle rack in the oven and preheat to 170°C.

  2. Prepare a glass English cake mold by greasing with butter and dusting with flour.

  3. In a mixer bowl, place sugar, lemon zest, and orange zest, and rub with fingertips.

  4. Add eggs and vanilla, and beat with a whisk until light and fluffy.

  5. Add oil in a thin stream while continuing to beat.

  6. Add yogurt and lemon juice, and beat to combine.

  7. Add flour and mix with a wooden spoon or hand whisk.

  8. Pour the batter into the mold.

  9. Bake until the cake is done.

  10. For the sauce, in a saucepan, place orange juice, sugar, and starch, stir to dissolve, heat on medium heat with continuous stirring until it boils, let it cool, and serve with the cake.
