Orange Peel Cake with Sauce

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 large orange
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn oil
  • 1/4 cup yogurt or labneh

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice

Garnish

  • Thin orange peels

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a cake pan

  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt

  3. In another bowl, beat eggs, sugar, vanilla, oil, yogurt, and zest or juice from the orange

  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until smooth, then pour into prepared pan

  5. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean

  6. For the sauce, mix sugar and orange juice in a saucepan and heat until sugar dissolves

  7. Allow cake to cool slightly, then drizzle with sauce

  8. Garnish with thin orange peels before serving
