Chicken and Mushroom Shawarma
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons corn oil
- 2 large chicken fillets
- 2 medium onions
- 10 medium mushrooms
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon sumac
- 1/4 cup vinegar
Sauce
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon shawarma spices
Serving items
- Arabic bread
- Tahini sauce
Preparation
In a wide skillet, place the corn oil, heat on medium heat, and add the chicken. Stir on high heat until the chicken is light golden and fully cooked.
Add the onion and stir for 1 to 2 minutes. Add the mushrooms, salt, pepper, sumac, and vinegar. Stir on high heat for 1 to 2 minutes to dry the shawarma.
For the oil sauce, in a small bowl, place the olive oil, lemon juice, and shawarma spices. Stir with a fork until well combined.
Open a piece of Arabic bread, spread a little oil sauce, add a generous amount of chicken shawarma, and spread a little tahini sauce. Serve the shawarma immediately with lettuce salad or buttermilk drink.
