Healthy Dahi Vada with Semolina Twist

Ingredients

  • 1/2 bowl semolina
  • Curd (equal quantity to semolina)
  • Chopped green chilies to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • Water
  • 1 teaspoon fruit salt
  • Oil for greasing

Garnishes

  • Sweet tamarind chutney
  • Spicy coriander chutney
  • Pomegranate
  • Red chili powder
  • Roasted cumin seeds powder
  • Coriander leaves

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, take semolina

  2. Take curd in equal quantity to semolina

  3. Add curd to semolina and mix well

  4. Add green chilies to taste and mix

  5. Add grated ginger and mix well

  6. Add salt to taste and mix well

  7. Add 1/4 cup water and leave for 5 minutes

  8. Add 1 teaspoon fruit salt to make fluffy vadas

  9. Add a little bit of water and observe bubbles forming

  10. Grease an appam patra with a few drops of oil

  11. Pour the vada mixture into the appam patra without filling it completely, as it will rise

  12. Cook the vadas on both sides for 5 minutes in the shallow-fried method

  13. In a separate bowl, mix thin curd with water and salt, then stir well

  14. Soak the cooked vadas in the curd mixture for 5 minutes

  15. Serve the dahi vada in a bowl

  16. Top with sweet tamarind chutney and spicy coriander chutney

  17. Add pomegranate on top

  18. Sprinkle red chili powder and roasted cumin seeds powder

  19. Garnish with coriander leaves
