Homemade Meat-Free Corn Dogs with Fries

Ingredients

  • meat-free sausages (part cooked and allowed to cool)
  • wooden sticks
  • 125g fine cornmeal
  • 125g plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 70ml milk
  • 200ml buttermilk
  • 50g melted butter

Preparation

  1. Part cook the meat-free sausages and allow them to cool so the batter will stick.

  2. Pop the cooled sausages on a stick.

  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix.

  4. Pour the batter into a glass.

  5. Dip the sausage into the batter, twisting as you remove it.

  6. Wiggle it gently into hot oil and give it a couple of minutes then turn it.

  7. Be careful with hot oil as it is dangerous.
