Fried Corn Dogs with Batter

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup corn flour
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup milk

For frying

  • corn oil

Preparation

  1. In a high-sided skillet, place corn oil to a height of about 5 cm and heat over medium heat.

  2. In a deep bowl, combine the corn flour, flour, salt, baking powder, paprika, and cumin and stir to mix the ingredients.

  3. In a large cup, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined, then add to the dry mixture and stir with a whisk until smooth.

  4. Insert a wooden stick into the sausages to about halfway.

  5. Hold a sausage by the stick and dip it into the batter, turning to coat all sides completely.

  6. Fry the coated sausage in the hot oil, turning on all sides for 1 to 2 minutes until cooked and golden brown.

  7. Remove the fried sausages and place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil, then serve warm.
