Turkish Minced Meat Pide

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1.5 cups warm water
  • 2 tablespoons yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 3.5 to 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Filling

  • 100g minced meat
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 small tomato
  • 2 green peppers
  • 2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • cumin, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and salt to taste

Preparation

  1. In a deep bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar well.

  2. Gradually add flour on top.

  3. Add yogurt and salt, then knead after adding enough flour.

  4. Let the dough rise for 1 hour on the side.

  5. Meanwhile, prepare the minced meat filling by combining cubed onion, tomato, pepper, minced meat, and spices raw.

  6. Divide the dough into 9 pieces.

  7. Shape each piece into long ovals according to the tray size.

  8. Add the filling on top, spread with hands, and close the edges.

  9. Bake in a preheated 200°C oven for 15-20 minutes until the edges are golden.

  10. After removing from the oven, brush the edges with butter.

Notes

  1. No frying is required for the filling.
