Easy Homemade Date-Filled Cookie

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon fennel
  • 1 tablespoon anise
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 1/4 cup cream or kaymak
  • 3/4 cup warm milk

Filling

  • 250 grams date paste
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, fennel, anise, yeast, sugar, salt, and baking powder.

  2. Add the ghee, cream or kaymak, and warm milk to form a dough.

  3. Knead the dough until smooth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. Combine the date paste, ghee, and cinnamon for the filling until well mixed.

  5. After rising, divide the dough into portions, roll out each piece, add filling, and shape into cookies.

  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
