Steamed Chocolate Cake in Teacups

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup fine granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Filling

  • Plain or white chocolate

Decoration

  • Chocolate biscuits
  • Halabi pistachio

Preparation

  1. Prepare 6 regular teacups

  2. Wipe the cups with a thin layer of oil

  3. On a piece of parchment paper or in a bowl, sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt, add coffee, and set aside

  4. In a mixer bowl, put eggs and sugar, attach whisk attachment and beat until fluffy, add oil and vanilla, and stir gently

  5. Add flour mixture and stir gently

  6. Distribute half the cake batter into the cups and add several pieces of plain or white chocolate as desired, or use chocolate chips

  7. Add the remaining batter so the cup is half full

  8. Place cups in a deep skillet

  9. Fill skillet with hot water to half the height of the cups

  10. Cover the skillet with a lid or use aluminum foil and cook on medium heat until water boils gently for about 20 minutes or until cake is done and set

  11. Carefully remove cups from hot water and let cool slightly

  12. Spread melted chocolate on top as desired, sprinkle pistachios, add a chocolate biscuit finger, and serve warm or at room temperature
