Easy Homemade Crispy Crust Baguettes

Ingredients

  • 400 g all-purpose flour (Type 405)
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 1/4 cube fresh yeast
  • 270 ml lukewarm water
  • some flour for dusting

Preparation

  1. Mix flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl

  2. Crumble the yeast into the mixture

  3. Add 270ml lukewarm water

  4. Knead until no flour is visible

  5. Cover and let rest for 2 hours

  6. Pour the dough onto a well-floured work surface

  7. Divide the dough into two parts using a dough scraper or knife

  8. Shape each piece into a 40 cm long strand

  9. Place the strands on a parchment-lined baking sheet

  10. Dust with flour and let rest covered until the oven is preheated to 230°C (convection: 210°C)

  11. Place a porcelain vessel filled with water on the bottom of the oven

  12. Slash the baguettes as desired

  13. Bake for 25-30 minutes

  14. Remove the baguettes on the parchment paper from the baking sheet

  15. Let cool on a wire rack

Serving suggestion

  1. Serve as a perfect side with grilled foods
