Homemade Lilac Sugar for Dessert Enhancement
Ingredients
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup lilac flowers
Preparation
Use fresh lilac flowers that have not been sprayed with pesticides, preferably from a farmer's market.
In a pint-sized mason jar, layer the sugar and flowers by adding 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup flowers alternately until all ingredients are used.
Store the jar in a dark place and shake it every day for a week to infuse the sugar.
After a week, strain out the flowers and keep the infused sugar in a jar for sprinkling on cookies, fruit, cake, or other desserts.
