Homemade Blackberry Jam with Reduced Sugar

Ingredients

  • 4 cups blackberries
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 an unpeeled apple cut into quarters

Preparation

  1. Add the blackberries to a large pot and cook on medium high heat for about 5 minutes until the juices start to run.

  2. Add the sugar a little at a time to keep the mixture at a continuous rolling boil. Add the apple and cook all for about 15 minutes.

  3. Place a small spoon of jam onto a frozen plate. When a skin forms, it is ready.

  4. Remove the apple and pour the jam into hot sterilized jars and seal.

Tips

  1. Sugar helps preserve and add great flavor compared to chia-based jams.
