Fish with Turmeric Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 kg fish
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon whole cumin
  • 1/2 cup corn oil
  • 6 cloves crushed garlic
  • 2 tablespoons crushed ginger
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 4 red and green chili peppers
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, place the turmeric, paprika, salt, cumin, and mix to combine the spices.

  2. Cut the fish to the desired size and sprinkle some spices on it.

  3. In a skillet, place the oil and heat it well.

  4. In a plate, place a little flour, then coat the fish pieces in the flour lightly, then place the fish pieces directly in the oil. Do not leave the fish in the flour for a long time; it is better to put it directly in the oil.

  5. Fry the fish until the bottom is golden brown, then flip it to the other side to brown, remove the fish and set it aside on a plate.

  6. In the same skillet, add the onion, garlic, whole cumin, bay leaves, and pepper pods, stir to sauté all these ingredients well, add the remaining fine spices and sauté them with the onion mixture until well toasted and flavorful.

  7. Add lemon juice, yogurt, and about a cup of water, stir to mix, then let it come to a boil.

  8. Return the fish to the sauce and leave it for a few minutes to finish cooking, place it on a serving dish and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
