Fish Kofta with Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground sumac
  • 1 teaspoon crushed chili
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 500 grams fish fillet

Sauce

  • 4 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 3 large tomatoes finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

Coating

  • flour

Frying

  • corn oil

Garnish

  • chopped parsley

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix the cumin, paprika, turmeric, ginger, garlic powder, sumac, chili, cardamom, black pepper, and salt, then set aside.

  2. In a food processor, place the fish and one-third of the spice mixture and blend until smooth.

  3. Shape the mixture into approximately 2-inch balls.

  4. In a wide plate, put the flour and sprinkle some of the spices.

  5. Roll the kofta balls in the flour to coat them lightly.

  6. In a wide skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil, sear the kofta until golden brown, then remove.

  7. Add 1 tablespoon of oil if needed, add the garlic and lemon zest, stir for a few seconds, add the tomatoes, tomato paste, remaining spices, and vinegar, and let the sauce simmer.

  8. Add the fish kofta to the sauce and leave for a few minutes.

  9. Place on a serving dish, sprinkle with parsley, and serve.
