Fish Kofta with Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground sumac
- 1 teaspoon crushed chili
- 1 teaspoon cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 500 grams fish fillet
Sauce
- 4 cloves crushed garlic
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 3 large tomatoes finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
Coating
- flour
Frying

Garnish
- chopped parsley
Preparation
In a bowl, mix the cumin, paprika, turmeric, ginger, garlic powder, sumac, chili, cardamom, black pepper, and salt, then set aside.
In a food processor, place the fish and one-third of the spice mixture and blend until smooth.
Shape the mixture into approximately 2-inch balls.
In a wide plate, put the flour and sprinkle some of the spices.
Roll the kofta balls in the flour to coat them lightly.
In a wide skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of oil, sear the kofta until golden brown, then remove.
Add 1 tablespoon of oil if needed, add the garlic and lemon zest, stir for a few seconds, add the tomatoes, tomato paste, remaining spices, and vinegar, and let the sauce simmer.
Add the fish kofta to the sauce and leave for a few minutes.
Place on a serving dish, sprinkle with parsley, and serve.
