Kofta with Hot Sauce
Ingredients
- 500 grams ground meat
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon mixed spices
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon chili
- 1 large egg
- 2 slices toast bread
- 1/2 cup liquid chili sauce
- 1 cup yogurt
- 4 tablespoons corn oil
- 4 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
- black pepper
- cardamom pods
- cumin
- bay leaf
Preparation
In a bowl, place ginger, cinnamon, mixed spices, chili, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to combine the spices and set aside.
In a bowl, place the ground meat, egg, toast, and about half of the spice mixture. Mix well until the bread is crumbled and incorporated, then shape into oval or ball shapes and set aside.
In a skillet or pot, heat the oil and fry the kofta on all sides until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
To the same skillet, add cardamom pods, cumin, bay leaf, the remaining spices, and garlic slices, then add yogurt or chili sauce.
Return the kofta pieces to the sauce, cover the skillet, and let it simmer on low heat for a few minutes until fully cooked, then sprinkle with cilantro and serve.
Tips
You can mix tomato sauce with chili sauce to reduce spiciness.
