Garlic and Lemon Oven Baked Fish
Ingredients
- 6-8 pieces white fish (ideally cod or haddock)
- 60g butter
- 6-8 garlic cloves, finely sliced
- 3 tbsp plain flour
- 1/2 litre milk
- water as needed
- 1 tsp English mustard
- 3/4 tsp salt
- handful fresh chopped parsley
- juice of one lemon
Preparation
Melt butter in a pan and add sliced garlic on low heat to infuse flavor without cooking it. Add plain flour to create a roux.
Gradually add milk to the roux, ensuring it is absorbed before adding more. If the sauce is too thick, add water to thin it. Add salt, mustard, lemon juice, and chopped parsley. Taste and adjust seasoning as necessary.
Place fish pieces in a baking dish or cast iron skillet, pour sauce over them, and ensure they are coated. Bake at 200°C for 15-20 minutes until fish is cooked through.
Serve with favorite sides and enjoy.
Tips
This recipe works best with white flaky fish such as cod, haddock, or pollock.
