Vegan BLT Sandwich with Tofu Bacon

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp sriracha
  • 3/4 tsp smoked salt
  • 3/4 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 10 slices extra firm tofu

Tahini caesar dressing

  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsps lemon juice
  • 6 tbsps water
  • 1 1/2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

Preparation

  1. Pat dry 10 slices of extra firm tofu.

  2. Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl then pour over the tofu.

  3. Let marinate for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.

  4. In a large fry pan, add all tofu slices in an even layer with the remaining marinade and cook until golden and caramelized.

  5. Whisk all tahini Caesar dressing ingredients together, adding more water to thin if desired.

  6. Assemble the BLT sandwich with bread, cooked tofu bacon, lettuce, tomato, and tahini Caesar dressing
