Easy Wajik with Four Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 cups glutinous rice
  • 5 cups coconut milk
  • 4 cups palm sugar
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt, a pinch (optional)

Preparation

  1. Soak the glutinous rice in water for 3 hours.

  2. Steam the rice for 25 minutes, then fluff it.

  3. Mix the palm sugar with 1 cup of water and strain to remove impurities.

  4. In a pot, combine the coconut milk, strained palm sugar mixture, white sugar, and add a pinch of salt if desired.

  5. Cook the mixture over medium heat until it thickens and becomes sticky.

  6. Add the steamed rice to the mixture and stir until uniform and well combined.

  7. Pour the mixture into a tray or mold.

  8. Allow it to cool and set before cutting into pieces.

Tips

  1. For a creamier texture, use more coconut milk as preferred.
