Christmas Tree Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- dash of salt
Preparation
Cut the butter into small cubes and place back in the fridge to keep cool
Measure out your flour and place in a food processor along with your cold butter cubes and pulse until you reach a coarse
Dump the contents into a large bowl and add in the rest of the ingredients
Use your hands to really mix the dough well and separate into two dough balls and chill in the fridge for at least one hour or overnight
When ready to bake, Preheat your oven to 375ºF
Take out one ball of dough and roll it out
Use a cookie cutter to cut out your desired shape and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper
Place your cookies in the FREEZER! trust me on this one! This will ensure your cookie holds shape while you prep the rest of your cookies
Bake the cookies for 6-8 minutes depending on the size and thickness of your cookies (small cookies like candy canes will have a shorter cook time and larger cookies like Christmas trees will have a longer cook time)
Let your cookies cool completely (ideally overnight is your safest bet) and decorate away
