Vegan Tofu Burger Buns
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 2 Tbsp neutral flavor oil
- 1/2 cup soft tofu
- 1 Tbsp instant yeast
- 1 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Preparation
Whisk together all ingredients except salt and flour until tofu no longer has visible pieces
Add in flour and salt
Mix using a heavy spoon or stand mixer
Knead for 5-10 minutes until dough is smooth
Transfer dough to oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 2 hours
Preheat oven to 375°F
Divide dough into 10 pieces and roll into balls
Cover and let rest for 5 minutes
Flatten each ball into a 3-inch diameter disc
Place on parchment-lined baking sheet, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for 45 minutes
Brush tops with oil or melted butter
Top with sesame seeds if desired
Bake for 15-18 minutes
Transfer to wire rack to cool completely
Freeze if longer storage is desired
