Foolproof Homemade Bread Baking Guide

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 3 pinches salt
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 500 ml lukewarm water
  • 10-12 grams instant yeast

Preparation

  1. Mix 3 1/4 cups of whole wheat flour with 3 cups of plain flour and add 3 pinches of salt; mix well.

  2. In a separate bowl, add 3 tablespoons of maple syrup to 500 ml of lukewarm water, then add 10-12 grams of instant yeast; mix and let it sit to activate the yeast.

  3. Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture and start mixing until combined.

  4. When you can no longer mix with a spoon, begin kneading the dough and incorporate any remaining flour; knead for about 10 minutes.

  5. Place the dough in a warm spot and let it rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

  6. Knead the dough again for 5 minutes, then shape it into the desired form.

  7. Let the shaped dough sit for another hour to rise again.

  8. Preheat the oven to 200°C.

  9. After the second rise, make some cuts on the top of the bread and bake it for 40-50 minutes.
