Baked Jacket Potatoes with Salt and Oil

Ingredients

  • 1-1.5 kg white potatoes
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt
  • oil
  • toppings to serve

Preparation

  1. Remove any sprouts growing from your potatoes then prick each one all over with a fork, wash them, scrub well and then pat dry.

  2. Place all the potatoes on a baking tray and drizzle lightly with oil, sprinkle salt all over. Cover the entire baking tray with aluminium foil.

  3. Bake the potatoes in the oven at gas mark 7 or 220°C for 1 hour covered, after 1 hour turn the potatoes and then cook for another 20 minutes uncovered to crisp up the skin.

  4. Enjoy with plain butter or your favourite toppings.
