Moong Dal and Paneer Waffles
Ingredients
- 1 cup split Moong Dal
- 1/2 cup shredded paneer
- Salt as needed
- 1/4 tsp asafetida powder
- 2 green chilies (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/2 cup water or as needed to make thick batter
- 3 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoon dates tamarind chutney to serve
Preparation
Soak the split Moong Dal in water for a few hours or overnight
Drain the dal and blend it with water to form a thick batter
Mix in the shredded paneer, salt, asafetida powder, chopped green chilies if using, and chopped cilantro
Heat a waffle iron and brush it with olive oil
Pour the batter into the waffle iron and cook until golden and crisp
Serve hot with dates tamarind chutney
Tips
Add more vegetables to the batter for extra nutrition
Use a little more water in the batter to make traditional Moong Dal Chilla instead of waffles
Omit the paneer to make the recipe vegan
This dish is gluten-free and high in protein, ideal for calorie-conscious meals
