Vegan Grilled Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup almond milk
  • 1/3 cup nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 3 tbsp arrowroot powder
  • vegan grilled cheese:
  • 4 tsp vegan butter or coconut oil
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1/4 cup vegan mozzarella
  • pinch sea salt and pepper

Preparation

  1. Homemade Vegan Mozzarella

  2. In a blender add coconut milk, almond milk, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt and arrowroot powder

  3. Blend until smooth consistency

  4. Transfer to saucepan and bring to medium-high heat

  5. Warm mozzarella, stirring often, until thick and stringy in consistency (5-10 mins)

  6. Vegan Grilled cheese

  7. Butter two slices of sourdough bread on both sides (i.e. butter all four sides) and sprinkle with sea salt. Bring a skillet to medium heat and toast the bread slices until golden in colour, then flip and toast the other side

  8. Once it's ready, finish by lathering each toast with 2 heaping tablespoons of vegan mozzarella. Season with sea salt and pepper. Then flip one slice of bread onto the other to make a sandwich
