Barbecue Chickpeas with Rice, Avocado, and Greens

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tsp vegan Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic puree
  • 2 tsp tamari or soy sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp cider vinegar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Coconut sugar, to taste (optional)
  • 1 can chickpeas

Preparation

  1. Place chickpeas in air fryer and cook for 10-15 minutes at 180°C, tossing occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  2. Combine all sauce ingredients and mix well; taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

  3. Once chickpeas are done, they should have a slight crunch on the outside and be soft in the middle.

  4. Warm a little of the sauce over low heat.

  5. Toss the cooked chickpeas in the warmed sauce to coat them nicely.

  6. Serve with rice, avocado, greens, or your favorite sides.
