Crispy Tofu Stir Fry with Veggies and Rice
Ingredients
- 500 grams tofu
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- Tiny piece of ginger
- 2 tablespoons tamari sauce
- 1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce
- Pinch of salt
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon plain flour
- Enough water to make a paste
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Sesame oil or any oil
- Vegetables: peas, corn, broccoli
- Brown rice and quinoa
Preparation
Remove moisture from tofu using paper towel; wrap and leave for 10 minutes.
In a bowl, mix tamari sauce, sweet chilli sauce, crushed garlic, and ginger.
Cut tofu into square pieces, add to the mixture, coat well, and marinate for at least 15 minutes with a lid.
In another bowl, mix cornstarch, plain flour, and water to make a paste; dip tofu pieces and coat well.
Heat sesame oil in a pan and shallow fry the tofu until golden brown.
Optionally, skip the coating and frying; stir-fry directly with the sauce for a non-crunchy version with the same taste.
Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and serve with stir-fried vegetables and fried rice made from brown rice and quinoa.
