Fresh Guacamole Dip with Tomatoes and Lime

Ingredients

  • 1 small onion
  • 1 small garlic clove
  • 1-2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 pinch pepper

Optional

  • 1 small chili

Preparation

  1. Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic clove.

  2. Wash the tomatoes, halve them, and cut into very small cubes.

  3. Finely chop the cilantro.

  4. Halve the avocados, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh with a spoon.

  5. In a bowl, mash the avocado flesh coarsely with a fork, leaving some small avocado pieces.

  6. Squeeze the lime and mix the juice in.

  7. Add the onion, garlic, and cilantro.

  8. Season with salt and pepper and taste.

  9. Cover with plastic wrap and chill until serving.

  10. If desired, just before serving, garnish with additional tomato cubes or cilantro and serve with tortilla chips.

Tips

  1. To prevent browning, make the dip fresh.

  2. If you don't like cilantro, you can omit it.

  3. For some heat, finely chop a small chili and mix it in.
