Immune-Boosting Elderberry Syrup with Ginger and Spices
Ingredients
- 1 cup dried elderberries
- 4 cups water
- 1.5-2 cups honey or maple syrup
- 2 inches ginger
- 2 sticks of cinnamon
- A handful of star of anise
Preparation
Combine all ingredients except honey.
Bring to boil, then simmer and stir frequently for about 45 minutes, reducing the liquid by half.
Strain, and pour back into the pot.
Stir in honey.
Let cool, then pour into a jar and label and seal.
Store in the fridge and take a few spoonfuls a day when feeling a cold coming on or under the weather.
