Teriyaki-Style Crispy Crinkle-Cut Tofu Sticks
Ingredients
- Tofu cubes
- 1/4 cup coconut aminos or low-sodium tamari or soy sauce
- 2 tbsp garlic chili sauce or hot sauce
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp smooth peanut butter
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Optional: 1/4 tsp cornstarch
- Optional: 1/4 tsp water for thickening
Preparation
Remove tofu cubes from bag.
Bake on a lined baking sheet at 375°F for 15 minutes, flipping halfway.
Meanwhile, whisk together the sauce ingredients.
Heat the sauce gently in a small saucepan.
If desired, mix 1/4 tsp cornstarch with 1/4 tsp water and add to the sauce while heating.
Continue mixing the sauce while heating until it starts to thicken.
Remove from heat and stir in a little water to thin the sauce if needed.
When the tofu is just crispy, remove from oven and brush lightly with sesame oil.
Bake for another 3 minutes.
Remove from oven and mix the tofu into the sauce.
Serve immediately.
