Crispy Baked Tofu with Spicy Maple Sauce

Ingredients

  • 400g block extra firm pressed tofu
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch

Sauce

  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 inch grated ginger
  • 1.5 tsp sriracha
  • 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 5 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

Cornstarch slurry

  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Preparation

  1. Slice the pressed tofu and lightly coat it with cornstarch.

  2. Bake the tofu at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes.

  3. While the tofu is baking, add sesame oil, garlic, and ginger to a pan and cook for 30 seconds.

  4. Add the remaining sauce ingredients and bring to a slight simmer.

  5. Mix in the cornstarch slurry and cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.

  6. Add the tofu to the sauce and serve.

Tips

  1. This dish can be enjoyed on its own or used as a topping for an Asian stir-fry.
