Upside Down Apple Cinnamon Rolls
Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cups Arrowhead Mills Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
- 1 packet instant yeast
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Filling
- 3 tbsp butter, room temperature
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
Apple topping
- 2 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp water
Preparation
Melt butter and mix with warm milk and 1 tablespoon sugar. Pour into a bowl, sprinkle yeast, and let rest for 10 minutes. Add remaining sugar and flour, mix until dough forms. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth. Cover and proof for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Melt butter, add cinnamon, apples, sugar, and water. Cook for 4-6 minutes. Add cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water, cook until thickened. Place in a greased 9x9 inch pan.
Roll dough into a rectangle 11x14 inches. Spread butter, sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture. Roll tightly, cut into 9 slices. Place rolls in the pan, cover, and rise for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Uncover and bake for 20-22 minutes until golden. Cool for 5 minutes, then flip onto a plate. Enjoy!
