Homemade Brownie Cinnamon Buns
Ingredients
Dough
- 1 cup milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 4 cups AP flour
- 1.5 teaspoons fine salt
- 4 ounces butter, softened
Filling
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 4 ounces butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons Everything Brownie
- 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Optional
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
Preparation
Dough
Stir together the milk and yeast and let sit for a minute to allow the yeast to dissolve.
Add the remaining dough ingredients to the bowl and mix or knead until a smooth dough forms roughly 10 minutes with a mixer or 15 minutes by hand.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and allow to rise for an hour to an hour and a half or until almost doubled in size.
When the dough has almost doubled, place in the fridge for 30 minutes before using to make the dough easier to roll out and roll up.
Filling
For the filling, combine the brown sugar, softened butter, and Everything Brownie seasoning.
Once thoroughly mixed, stir in the mini chocolate chips.
Assembly and baking
Remove the dough from the fridge and, on a lightly floured countertop, roll into a roughly 12 inch by 16 inch rectangle.
Spread the filling over the dough and roll up along the long edge.
Lightly grease the bottom of your baking pan with butter or non-stick spray.
If placing the dough into a 13 inch by 9 inch baking pan, cut into 12 equal pieces. If using 2 8 inch round cake pans, cut into 10 equal pieces and distribute evenly between the two pans.
Cover the rolls and let rise for 45 to 90 minutes or until puffy.
If desired, warm heavy cream and pour over the rolls right before baking.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 35 minutes or until a light golden brown on top.
