Simple Tempeh Marinade and Simmering Technique
Ingredients
- 1 block of tempeh, cut into cubes or strips
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 garlic powder
Preparation
If tempeh is bitter, simmer or steam it first with a flavorful broth to improve taste.
Add all marinade ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a simmer.
Allow tempeh to cook on one side for 3 minutes before flipping.
Cook the mixture for another 2-3 minutes and sauté until all liquid is absorbed and cooked off.
To add more flavor, optionally include a sauce, an extra splash of soy sauce, and 2 tsp maple syrup.
Gently cook and allow the tempeh to brown and caramelize.
Serve with additional sides for a satisfying meal.
