Fun Japanese Bento Box for Kids

Preparation

  1. Cook rice in a rice cooker

  2. Cut carrots into petal shapes and blanch in salted boiling water

  3. Blanch broccoli in the same water and drain on kitchen paper

  4. Shape sausages like buffaloes and cook them in a pan

  5. For the lion, cut small sausages into rounds, form a flower shape, cook in a pan, add a beaten egg to the center, and cook on low heat until set

  6. After cooking the lion, let it cool slightly, add cheese for ears and nori for eyes and mouth

  7. Prepare horenso salad by blanching spinach in hot water for one minute, drain, rinse with cold water, squeeze out excess water, chop into inch-long pieces, mix with a little soy sauce, and add chopped carrot, salad leaves, and corn kernels

  8. Assemble the bento box by dividing compartments, place rice in one section, add carrot flowers and the lion shape

  9. In another section, add the buffalo-shaped sausages, broccoli, horenso salad, and some raisins or dried fruits

  10. For dessert, cut a piece of pre-made caramel pudding, place it in a compartment, and top with whipped cream shaped like flowers
