Vegetable Dumplings with Ginger and Sesame
Ingredients
- 2 medium carrots
- 100g shitake mushrooms
- 2 inch piece of ginger
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 red chilli
- 2 sprigs spring onion
- 1 tbsp tamari
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 12 chinese dumpling wraps (i buy mine from my local asian supermarket)
Preparation
Finely chop the ginger, garlic & chilli. Grate the carrot & chop the mushroom into small pieces. Chop up the spring onion nice & fine.
In a large pan heat sesame oil & sauté everything until just cooked.
Dip your finger in some water & run it along the outside of the wrap, this will help to seal it. Fold the wrap in half & pinch it together, making sure to seal it properly. Repeat with all the dumpling wraps.
Heat a saucepan (with a lid) with a tiny bit of sesame oil & fry the bottom of the dumplings for about 4 mins so they get nice & brown on the bottom. Next pour in about half a cup of water & clamp the lid on & steam for about 5 mins.
Serve with your favourite dipping sauce & eat whilst theyre super hot yum yum yum
