Berry Jam Made with Chia Seeds
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh berries
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
Preparation
Put the berries into a small sauce pot and heat while mashing with a heavy spoon, ladle, or potato masher.
Once the mixture starts to simmer and is broken down, stir in the chia seeds.
Turn off the heat and transfer to a glass dish or jar to cool.
It will thicken into a jam consistency within half an hour. Refrigerate for even thicker results.
Tips
You can use frozen berries or fresh, depending on availability.
This jam can be made with equal parts blueberry, raspberry, and strawberry, or any single type of berry.
Using chia seeds eliminates the need for sugar, adds fiber, and provides essential Omega-3 fatty acids.
