Foolproof Homemade Bread Baking Guide
Ingredients
- 3 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
- 3 cups plain flour
- 3 pinches salt
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 500 ml lukewarm water
- 10-12 grams instant yeast
Preparation
Mix 3 1/4 cups of whole wheat flour with 3 cups of plain flour and add 3 pinches of salt; mix well.
In a separate bowl, add 3 tablespoons of maple syrup to 500 ml of lukewarm water, then add 10-12 grams of instant yeast; mix and let it sit to activate the yeast.
Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture and start mixing until combined.
When you can no longer mix with a spoon, begin kneading the dough and incorporate any remaining flour; knead for about 10 minutes.
Place the dough in a warm spot and let it rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Knead the dough again for 5 minutes, then shape it into the desired form.
Let the shaped dough sit for another hour to rise again.
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
After the second rise, make some cuts on the top of the bread and bake it for 40-50 minutes.
