Orange Ginger Spiced Oatmeal Breakfast

Ingredients

  • 1/3 or 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2 tsp ground flax seeds
  • Zest of one orange
  • 2 tsp maple syrup or 1 mashed date
  • Pinch of cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • Pinch of salt

Overnight mix

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Zest of one orange
  • Pinch of cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

Preparation

  1. Add all ingredients to a saucepan and bring to a simmer.

  2. Stir well and cook for 3-5 minutes or until thickened.

  3. Remove from heat and let cool for 1-2 minutes while preparing toppings.

  4. Serve with desired toppings such as mango, blackberries, blueberries, and pecans.

Overnight method

  1. Combine 1/2 cup oats, 1 tbsp chia seeds, zest of one orange, pinch of cardamom, 1/4 tsp ginger, pinch of salt, 2 tsp maple syrup, and 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk in a container.

  2. Stir well and refrigerate overnight.
