Sticky Spicy Tofu Stir-Fry
Ingredients
- 1 block firm tofu
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 4 tbsp gochujang
- 4 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2-3 cm fresh ginger
- sunflower oil for frying
- spring onion
- sesame seeds
- basmati rice
Preparation
Press the tofu by placing it between two cutting boards and add something heavy on top to let it sit for 30 minutes.
Cut the tofu into cubes and cover with the cornstarch.
Use sunflower oil to fry the tofu cubes until golden brown.
Rest and cool down the tofu on a kitchen towel to remove any excess oil.
In the meantime, use a separate pan to bake the garlic and ginger.
After 3 minutes, add the gochujang, ketchup, maple syrup, rice vinegar, and soy sauce.
Let the sauce simmer on low heat.
Toss the tofu in the sauce right before serving to keep it extra crispy.
Serve with fresh rice, spring onion, and sesame seeds.
Cook basmati rice according to package instructions.
