Moist German Marble Cake with Chocolate Glaze
Ingredients
Batter
- 250 g softened butter
- 200 g sugar
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 5 eggs
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 3 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 50 ml milk
- butter for greasing the pan
Glaze
- 150 g dark chocolate
- 50 g white chocolate
Preparation
Grease a 22 cm bundt pan
Preheat the oven to 180°C (convection: 160°C)
Beat softened butter with sugar, vanilla sugar, and salt until fluffy
Add eggs one at a time
Mix flour with baking powder and alternately stir in with 3 tbsp milk
Pour half of the batter into a bowl
Mix cocoa powder with sugar and the remaining milk and stir into one half of the batter
Pour half of the light batter into the pan and smooth the top
Pour half of the dark batter on top and smooth the top
Pour the remaining light batter on top and smooth the top
Pour the remaining dark batter on top and smooth the top
Use a fork to draw circles in the pan to create the marbling
Smooth the top again
Bake for about 50 minutes
Let cool on a wire rack
Loosen the edges with a knife, then carefully invert the cake and place on a wire rack
Chop the dark chocolate and white chocolate coarsely and melt separately in bowls over a water bath
Pour the dark chocolate over the cake and spread
Drop the white chocolate on top and marble with a skewer
Let set for about 30 minutes
Tips
On warm days, you can simply dust the marble cake with powdered sugar
