Baked Cauliflower with Béchamel Sauce
Ingredients
- Cauliflower
- 1 cup olive oil or vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon red pepper powder
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried or fresh chopped parsley
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt
Béchamel sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1.5 cups milk
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
Toppings
- Shredded cheddar cheese
Preparation
Clean and cut the cauliflower into slices.
Mix the spiced sauce ingredients and coat the cauliflower slices.
Place the coated cauliflower in a baking tray and bake in a medium-heat oven for 15-20 minutes.
Melt the butter in a pan and cook with the flour.
Add the milk to the mixture and stir until the sauce thickens.
Incorporate the garlic and nutmeg into the sauce, then remove from heat.
Spread the béchamel sauce over the baked cauliflower.
Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes until done.
