Cheese and Herb Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup liquid cream
  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chopped dill
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green basil
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2/3 cup butter, chilled

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese

Preparation

  1. Place the rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 220°C.

  2. Prepare rimmed baking sheets.

  3. In a deep bowl, combine cream and eggs and whisk until well blended.

  4. In another deep bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, parsley, dill, basil, and cheese with a fork.

  5. Cut butter into small cubes and add to the flour mixture. Use a pastry blender to cut in until crumbly.

  6. Add the cream and egg mixture to the dry ingredients and stir with a wide plastic spoon until a cohesive dough forms. Do not overmix.

  7. On a clean surface, knead the dough lightly a few times and shape into two 8-inch disks. Place on the baking sheets.

  8. Cut each disk into 8 triangles and separate slightly. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and sesame seeds.

  9. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden. Serve warm or cold.
