Quick and Soft Turkish Poğaça

Ingredients

  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 4 or 4.5 cups flour
  • Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (optional)

Preparation

  1. Mix all the wet ingredients together in a bowl.

  2. Add the dry ingredients and knead into a soft dough.

  3. Shape the dough into small balls or desired poğaça forms.

  4. Brush the tops with the yolk of one egg.

  5. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or nigella seeds.

  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 10 minutes until golden and puffed.

Notes

  1. Su bardağı (water glass) is equivalent to 200 ml, and çay bardağı (tea glass) is 125 ml for accurate measurements.

  2. This recipe makes a tray full of soft and flavorful poğaça, ideal for breakfast or snacks.
