Easy and Flaky Turkish Poğaça

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs (yolks reserved for brushing)
  • 150 grams room temperature butter
  • 1 teacup yogurt
  • 1 teacup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Flour (as needed to form a soft dough)

Filling

  • White cheese mixed with parsley

Topping

  • Sesame seeds
  • Nigella seeds

Preparation

  1. Mix all ingredients except the egg yolks, gradually add flour to make a dough softer than an earlobe.

  2. Divide the dough into pieces slightly larger than an egg and flatten each to the size of a tea plate.

  3. Place the cheese mixed with parsley in the center of each piece and seal the dough around it.

  4. Arrange on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with the reserved egg yolks, and sprinkle with sesame and nigella seeds.

  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius until golden and cooked through.
